Ep 2. Sofa's Choice

Paul and Jamie Buchman, young urban professionals, make their way through Manhattan, determined to maintain their relationship in the midst of all the demands (and bedlam) that daily life holds for them. In season 1 episode 2, titled Sofa's Choice, the couple's search for the perfect sofa turns into a nightmare when the salespeople start pressuring them into buying a shapeless, hideous piece of furniture.

The episode begins when Paul is excited to finally purchase a new sofa for their living room. He has been tirelessly researching different models and designs and has finally narrowed it down to one particular sofa he believes is perfect for their home. Jamie, however, is not so sure about it and decides to join him on his search to see if they can find something better.

They visit numerous furniture stores, testing different sofas and scrutinizing the fabric, design, and color. With each store, they become more and more discouraged as they cannot seem to find that perfect one that will meet both their needs.

Just when they are about to give up on their search, they stumble upon a store that seems to have the perfect sofa. They are wooed by the plush fabric, sleek design, and feel of the sofa, and decide to buy it. However, the salespeople soon turn out to be pushy and manipulative, pressuring them into purchasing a separate love seat as well as a set of complementing pillows.

Feeling backed into a corner, they reluctantly agree. They leave the store feeling uneasy, realizing they may have made a mistake. They decide to go back to the store to return the additional items only to find out that the salespeople have already ordered everything and cannot be canceled.

They are now stuck with a sofa they are not in love with, an expensive love seat they did not need, and a set of pillows that do not match their decor. Paul and Jamie are left baffled and frustrated, wondering how something as simple as buying a sofa could go so wrong.

As they continue to try and make the best of their situation, they begin to realize that their love for each other is what truly matters. They may not have the perfect sofa, but they have each other, and that is the most important thing.

Overall, Mad About You season 1 episode 2, Sofa's Choice, is a hilarious and relatable episode that explores the ups and downs of shopping for furniture as well as the importance of the connection between two people.
