In season 6 episode 5 of Mystery Diners, titled "Bad Poets Society," a struggling restaurant owner reaches out to Charles Stiles and his team for help. The owner is concerned because his waitstaff is constantly walking out on the job, and he suspects that one of his employees is stealing from him.
After being contacted by the owner, Charles sends in his Mystery Diners to go undercover as new hires. They observe the staff's behavior and interactions with customers, and they take note of any suspicious behavior.
Before long, the team discovers that one of the waitresses is responsible for stealing from the restaurant. But that's not all—the Mystery Diners also find out that a group of local poets has been using the restaurant as a meeting spot, and they've been causing chaos during the owner's busiest hours.
As the Mystery Diners continue to investigate, they work to not only identify the thief but also rid the restaurant of the disruptive poets. With the help of hidden cameras, the team is able to catch the thief in the act, providing the necessary evidence for the owner to take action.
But the Mystery Diners' work isn't done just yet. They also confront the poets and get to the bottom of why they've been using the restaurant as a gathering place. Through a series of interviews and conversations, the Mystery Diners get a closer look at the poets' creative process and motivations.
By the end of the episode, the restaurant owner is grateful to the Mystery Diners for their help in uncovering the theft and putting an end to the poets' disruption. With the dishonest employee out of the picture and a more peaceful atmosphere in the restaurant, the owner is hopeful that he can turn his business around and achieve the success he's been striving for.
