Queer Eye Season 3 Episode 1 Championship Make Better
- June 7, 2005
Queer Eye is back with its third season, featuring a brand new episode named "Championship Make Better". The episode begins with the Fab Five - Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Karamo Brown, and Bobby Berk - driving around Kansas City, Missouri, on a mission to look for a deserving contestant.
They stumble upon Rob Elrod, a 42-year-old former college football star, who has since put on a lot of weight and lost his confidence. Rob used to be the team captain back in college and was very popular with the ladies. But after an injury forced him to retire from football, he spiralled into depression and started overeating.
Rob is now a single father with four children, and he wants to be the best dad he can be. He wants to lose weight, get fit, and start dating again. The Fab Five decide to take on the challenge and help Rob become the best version of himself.
Jonathan starts off by giving Rob a new haircut and beard trim. He helps Rob understand the importance of grooming and self-care, teaching him the right products to use on his skin and how to shave properly. Next up is Tan, who helps Rob revamp his wardrobe. Rob has been wearing the same oversized t-shirts and sweatpants for years, hiding his body under layers of baggy clothes. Tan shows him how to dress for his body shape, and finds clothes that are stylish and comfortable.
Antoni helps Rob improve his diet. Rob has been eating fast food and unhealthy snacks all his life. Antoni teaches him how to make healthy and nutritious meals for himself and his kids. He shows Rob how to make a quick and easy breakfast, as well as a tasty salad that is both filling and nutritious.
Karamo takes Rob on a journey of self-discovery, helping him confront his past and face his demons. Rob talks about his struggles with depression and the loss of his football career. Karamo helps Rob see that he is worth it and that he deserves to be happy and successful.
Finally, Bobby transforms Rob's living space. Rob has been living in a cluttered and cramped apartment, with random pieces of furniture thrown all over the place. Bobby works his magic and turns Rob's apartment into a spacious and modern home. He adds some personal touches, like family photos and memorabilia from Rob's football days, to make the space feel more personal.
Throughout the episode, we see Rob's transformation unfold, as he sheds his old habits and embraces his new lifestyle. He starts working out with a personal trainer, and loses a significant amount of weight. He starts dressing sharper and feeling more confident in his own skin. He starts dating again and even takes his new girlfriend on a romantic picnic.
The season premiere of Queer Eye season 3 is a feel-good episode that is bound to leave viewers inspired and uplifted. It showcases the kindness, compassion, and selflessness of the Fab Five, who go above and beyond to help someone in need. It's a reminder that with a little bit of motivation, support, and guidance, anyone can transform their lives for the better.
