Starsky and Hutch season 1 episode 2, titled "Texas Longhorn," follows detectives David Starsky and Kenneth Hutchinson as they investigate the murder of a wealthy businessman named George Prudholm. The episode begins with Prudholm's wife, Mildred, discovering her husband's lifeless body in their bed. The detectives are called to the scene and quickly realize that this was not a simple robbery gone wrong. Prudholm was shot at close range with a .32 caliber gun.

As they begin to investigate, Starsky and Hutch discover that Prudholm was involved in a land development deal with a wealthy Texan named Sam Houston (played by Bo Hopkins). Houston is in town to attend a rodeo and is staying at a posh hotel in the city. Starsky and Hutch head over to interview Houston, and they quickly learn that he isn't just any Texan - he's a former rodeo champion and owns one of the largest ranches in the state.

As they begin to dig deeper into the land deal, they discover that Prudholm was not the only person who stood to lose out if the deal fell through. A group of local investors, including a man named Jack Barrett, also had a lot of money on the line. When Barrett suddenly disappears, Starsky and Hutch start to suspect that he may have had something to do with Prudholm's murder.

The investigation takes an unexpected turn when the detectives discover that Mildred Prudholm was having an affair with Barrett. Mildred becomes a prime suspect in the case, and she's not the only one. Houston is also on their radar, especially after they find out that Prudholm and Houston had a falling out over the development deal.

With several suspects in play, Starsky and Hutch work tirelessly to piece together the clues and bring the killer to justice. Along the way, they encounter several obstacles, including a shady private investigator named Frank Easley (played by Richard Lynch) who seems to be working for someone with an agenda of their own.

As the detectives get closer to the truth, it becomes clear that the case is not as cut-and-dry as they initially thought. There are hidden motives and secret alliances at play, and the killer may not be who they expected.

"Texas Longhorn" is a gripping episode of Starsky and Hutch that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. With a complex plot, interesting characters, and plenty of twists and turns, this episode is a must-see for fans of classic crime dramas.
