After traveling through Memphis, Texas, and Alabama, the remaining teams of The Great Food Truck Race head to Savannah, Georgia, to battle for the South. In episode 6, the teams must first go through a "buy local" challenge where they must source their ingredients from local farms and markets. The catch? They only have $50 to spend on all their ingredients for the day.
Next, the teams participate in a street food festival where they must compete for customers and sales against each other and local food vendors. The catch? The festival is happening during the Savannah Jazz Festival, so there's tough competition for attention and foot traffic.
For their main challenge, the teams must create a dish inspired by Savannah's famous historical landmarks and architecture. They must also create a marketing strategy to sell their dish to Savannah tourists. The catch? They're only given four hours to prep and cook their dishes, and they must do so in a moving vehicle while navigating through Savannah's busy streets and tourist spots.
As the teams battle it out, tensions rise and mistakes are made. One team struggles with the "buy local" challenge and ends up with a limited menu for the rest of the day, while another team struggles to stay organized during the street food festival and falls behind in sales. In the end, it's a close race for first place, but one team ultimately comes out on top and secures their spot in the final leg of the competition.
With the competition heating up and only a few episodes left, the pressure is on for the remaining teams to bring their A-game and impress the judges. Who will come out on top in this Battle for the South? Tune in to find out in The Great Food Truck Race season 8 episode 6: The Race Through Savannah.
