In the episode "Lotor's Clone" of Voltron Defender of the Universe season 1, the audience witnesses the return of Prince Lotor, son of the villainous King Zarkon. However, this Lotor is not quite the same as the one they remember. He appears to be a perfectly identical clone, complete with memories and personality traits.

The episode begins with the team of heroes, consisting of Keith, Lance, Pidge, Hunk, and Princess Allura, intercepting a distress signal from an unknown planet. They soon discover that it is a trap set up by Lotor, who uses the opportunity to infiltrate the Castle of Lions undetected. He is quickly confronted by the team, who are understandably skeptical of his sudden reappearance.

Lotor calmly explains that he has come in peace, and reveals that he has no memory of his previous villainous acts. He claims that he has been cloned from a sample of his DNA, and that the scientists responsible erased his memories and implanted a new, benevolent personality in him. Lotor insists that he seeks to atone for his past sins and join forces with the Voltron team to fight evil.

The team is understandably wary of Lotor's claims, and Princess Allura is especially suspicious. However, they agree to let him stay on the castle temporarily while they investigate his story further. Lotor proves to be a valuable asset to the team, helping them in various battles against Zarkon's forces.

However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when Lotor's true intentions are revealed. It turns out that the clone was not quite the perfect copy that he appeared to be. Zarkon had engineered him to be a spy, and Lotor's true memories and personality begin to resurface. He turns on the team and attempts to use the powers of Voltron for his own evil purposes.

The team is left to fight off their former ally, and the battle is intense. Ultimately, it is revealed that the clone's body is not stable, and he begins to break down. Keith, the leader of the team, uses his quick thinking to find a way to save Lotor's consciousness before the clone dies. They are able to transfer his mind into a new, robotic body, freeing him from Zarkon's control.

The episode ends with Lotor, now in control of his own body again, promising to prove his loyalty to the team and fight against Zarkon once and for all. The team remains wary of him, but also grateful for his help. The revelation of the clone's true nature serves as a warning to the team that appearances can be deceiving, and that they must always be on guard against deception.

Overall, "Lotor's Clone" is an intense and action-packed episode that keeps the audience on the edge of their seat. The return of Prince Lotor adds an intriguing layer of complexity to the show, as the team is forced to grapple with the question of whether someone can truly change their nature. The episode is also notable for its stunning animation and design, as well as its memorable battle scenes. Definitely a must-watch for fans of the show!
