In the ninth episode of Monsters and Mysteries in America season 3, three different stories of unexplainable events are investigated. The first story revolves around a creature known as the Mantis Man that was seen in Southern Illinois in the 1950s. Witnesses describe the creature as being around 7 feet tall with a head that resembled that of a praying mantis. The creature seemed to vanish as quickly as it appeared, leaving residents baffled and scared.

The second story takes place in Spottsville, Kentucky, where a creature known as the Spottsville Monster has been sighted by many locals. Described as being covered in fur with glowing red eyes and razor-like claws, the monster has been blamed for the disappearance of several animals. When a group of teenagers decides to investigate, they come face to face with the creature and barely escape with their lives.

The final story is about Tornado Phantoms that have been seen in Oklahoma and Texas. Researchers investigate claims of strange shadowy figures that appear before tornadoes, leaving residents to question whether they are related to the natural disasters or something more supernatural.

Throughout the episode, experts and witnesses provide their accounts, each more chilling than the next. From the strange sightings of the Mantis Man and Spottsville Monster to the ominous Tornado Phantoms, viewers are left with a sense of unease and wonder at the mysteries that still exist within our world.
