Samurai 7 is a 2004 anime series based on the famous Akira Kurosawa film "Seven Samurai," which tells the story of a group of masterless samurai hired by farmers to protect them against bandits. The show, which aired on Sky PerfecTV, follows a similar plot, with seven samurai recruited by a farming village to protect them from an army of robots known as the Nobuseri.

The show begins with a haunting narration that sets the scene: "In a world that knows only war and oppression, a lone samurai seeks to rebuild what has been lost. But to save the future, he must confront the demons of the past."

The lone samurai in question is named Kambei, voiced by veteran anime voice actor Shinichiro Miki. Kambei is a master swordsman who has grown tired of the constant fighting and killing that has defined his life. When he is recruited by a young girl named Kirara to help her village, Kambei sees an opportunity to finally make a difference.

Kirara is the heart of the show, voiced by Romi Paku. She is a priestess who has a special ability to sense danger and is determined to save her village from the Nobuseri. Along with her younger sister Komachi (voiced by Zarah Little), Kirara seeks out Kambei to ask for his help in protecting the village. Kambei is reluctant at first, but ultimately agrees to help.

As Kambei and Kirara travel to the village, they encounter four other samurai who join them on their quest. The first is Kikuchiyo, a loud and boisterous samurai voiced by Bob Carter. Kikuchiyo is not originally a samurai; he is actually a farmer who has made himself a suit of armor to appear more intimidating. Despite his rough exterior, Kikuchiyo is fiercely loyal to his new comrades and will do anything to protect them.

The second samurai is Kanbei, voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard. Kanbei is the opposite of Kikuchiyo; he is calm, collected, and strategic. He has a profound sense of duty and a strong moral code that guides him in his decisions.

The third samurai is Shichiroji, voiced by Fumiko Orikasa. Shichiroji is a former comrade of Kambei's who he recruited to join the group. Shichiroji is a more reserved samurai who provides a steady presence in the group.

The fourth samurai is Heihachi, voiced by Greg Ayres. Heihachi is the youngest of the group and often provides comic relief. Despite his youth, Heihachi is a highly skilled archer and proves to be an invaluable asset to the group.

As the group arrives at the village, they are greeted by the villagers with fear and suspicion. The village's leader, an old man named Manzo, is hesitant to trust the samurai and is afraid they will only bring more trouble to the village. The samurai must work to earn the trust of the villagers and prepare for the arrival of the Nobuseri.

The Nobuseri are a formidable enemy, led by a ruthless general named Ukyo (voiced by Luci Christian). The Nobuseri are robots that have been built by a powerful daimyo to protect his lands. However, as the years have passed, the Nobuseri have become more powerful and have turned on their creators. Ukyo is determined to obtain the village's rice and will stop at nothing to get it.

The samurai and the villagers prepare for battle, using their wits and skills to outsmart the Nobuseri. The action scenes are thrilling, with the samurai using a variety of weapons and tactics to defeat their enemies. The animation is top-notch, with detailed character designs and stunning backgrounds that bring the world of the show to life.

Overall, Samurai 7 is a must-watch for fans of action and adventure anime. The show has a compelling storyline, complex characters, and thrilling action scenes. With a talented voice cast and beautiful animation, Samurai 7 is one of the best anime series of the early 2000s.

Samurai 7 is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (26 episodes). The series first aired on June 12, 2004.
