In the second episode of the 2014 season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri takes viewers on a culinary journey through the bustling city of New York. As one of the culinary capitals of the world, New York is home to some of the most unique and innovative dining experiences.

The episode starts off in the neighborhood of Long Island City at a restaurant called The Creek and The Cave. The establishment is known for its Tex-Mex cuisine, housemade corn tortillas, and comedy shows. Guy meets with the owner, Rebecca Trent, who explains the history of the restaurant. Guy tries the popular taco platter, which features a variety of flavorful fillings such as pork, chicken, and rib eye. He also tries the popular enchilada dish, which is topped with a spicy green salsa.

Next, Guy heads over to Astoria to try out the offerings at Sanford's Restaurant. The family-owned establishment has been around since the 1920s, and prides itself on its classic American comfort food. Guy meets with the proprietor, Gus Karayiannis, who takes him on a tour of the kitchen. Guy tries a few of the restaurant's signature dishes, including the classic meatloaf and the chicken pot pie.

Moving on to Brooklyn, Guy stops by a restaurant called The Meatball Shop. The establishment is known for its variety of meatball offerings, including the classic beef, pork, and chicken. Guy speaks with co-owners Michael Chernow and Daniel Holzman about the inspiration behind the restaurant and the various meatballs they offer. Guy tries a few of the different meatball dishes, including the spicy pork meatball parm and the classic beef meatball sub.

The next stop on Guy's tour of New York is Harlem, where he visits a restaurant called Melba's. The establishment is named after the owner, Melba Wilson, who is a well-known figure in the Harlem community. Melba's serves up traditional Southern comfort food with a modern twist. Guy tries a few of the restaurant's signature dishes, including the fried chicken and waffles and the mac and cheese. Melba also shares the history of the restaurant and her dedication to bringing the community together through food.

In Manhattan, Guy stops by a restaurant called Pickle Guys. The establishment has been in operation since 1910 and specializes in pickles of all kinds. Guy meets with the owner, Alan Kaufman, who explains the process of making the perfect pickle. Guy tries a few of the different pickle offerings, including the classic sour pickle and the spicy horseradish pickle.

The final stop on Guy's tour of All Things New York is in Queens at a restaurant called Sugar and Plumm. The establishment is known for its gourmet desserts and chocolate truffles. Guy meets with the executive pastry chef, Pichet Ong, who takes him on a tour of the kitchen and explains the process of making the various sweet treats. Guy tries a few of the different desserts, including the chocolate truffle cake and the raspberry macarons.

Throughout the episode, Guy showcases the diverse culinary scene in New York City. From Tex-Mex to Southern comfort food to gourmet desserts, viewers are taken on a flavor-filled journey through some of the most unique and innovative dining experiences in the city.
