- 1 Season
In the 1990s and early years of this century, Jake Steinfeld was arguably one of the most successful fitness experts in the U.S. So after a series of successful fitness DVDs and hundreds of appearances on television, founding a TV network must have seemed like a natural extension of the "Body By Jake" brand. ExerciseTV launched in January 2006 by Steinfeld and cable giant Comcast. The network was both a digital cable channel as well as a video-on-demand offering and an accompanying web site. The programming was primarily fitness related and it included a series of workout regimes, as well as programs devoted to yoga, Pilates and personal training tips. At its peak, the network received about eight million views a month, but it never garnered a big enough audience to become a moneymaker. The ExerciseTV cable channel shut down on November 25, 2011 and the on-demand channel and web site closed down a month later.
