Giada at Home is the half hour cooking show of celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis. The show follows Giada as she prepares a variety of foods at her home in California. Throughout the show, she makes a variety of courses and talks a little about her life and family. The show first debuted in 2008, and has played continuously since on Food Network. Giada's main concentration on the show seems to be Italian cuisine, from the pasta mainstays like spaghetti and manicotti to the more offbeat dishes like dessert ravioli and Veal Reggiano. Her ability of cook a real variety adds a dimension to the show not always seen on other Food Network shows, Giada has made Italian, Asian, and even a few French dishes on the show. The show also deals with the topic of party planning, showcasing Giada hosting parties for her family and friends. Though definitely still a cooking show, Giada at Home aims for a more personal and casual approach. Several episodes have cameos by her husband Todd and daughter Jade, and they are often on hand to enjoy the end results of each episode. Some episodes have started to take the approach of following Giada throughout her daily routine. A typical episode follows Giada as she prepares three dishes, usually an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. She goes through the various steps to create the meal, often pausing to recount little personal stories involving her family and the dishes. Throughout her many seasons, the show has gotten several Daytime Emmy nominations. Giada at Home continues to be a mainstay of Food Network's programming, and Giada herself has become one of the most recognizable stars on Food Network. The show has spawned several best selling cookbooks that contain all the recipes cooked on air. Though called Giada at Home, the show is not actually filmed at her home. The show still maintains a homespun feel throughout, and somehow lives up to its name.
