Ep 4. The Good, the Bad and the Not-So-Appealing

In Mad About You season 4 episode 4, entitled The Good, the Bad and the Not-So-Appealing, we find our beloved couple, Paul and Jamie Buchman, navigating through the struggles of married life. We begin with Paul, who is faced with a dilemma at work when he must decide whether or not to fire one of his employees. This situation causes him to question his own moral compass and the values he holds dear.

Meanwhile, Jamie is dealing with her own set of problems when she discovers that her parents are coming to visit. Although she loves them dearly, Jamie is apprehensive about their impending arrival as her mother, Mrs. Stemple, tends to be very critical of her and their marriage. To make matters worse, Jamie's childhood friend, Lisa, also arrives for a visit and she seems to have her sights set on Paul.

Throughout the episode, we see how these different conflicts come to a head, forcing Paul and Jamie to face some hard truths about themselves and their relationship. While Paul struggles with the guilt he feels over firing his employee, Jamie grapples with the fear that her mother's criticisms may be true and that her marriage may not be as perfect as she thought.

Despite these challenges, the couple manages to find some humor and levity in the situation, with Paul and Lisa engaging in a playful game of "Cowboys and Indians" and Jamie hilariously trying to hide all evidence of her college-era nose ring from her mother.

As the episode comes to a close, we see Paul and Jamie reconciling their differences and reaffirming their commitment to one another. While the issues they face may not be easy to overcome, we are reminded that their love for each other is what truly matters and that, no matter what, they will always be there for each other.
