T.J. Hooker was a crime drama television series that aired on ABC from 1982 to 1985. The show starred William Shatner as Sergeant T.J. Hooker, a veteran police officer in the fictional city of Sheridan, California. In season 2 episode 18, titled "Raw Deal," Hooker and his fellow officers are on the hunt for a pair of robbers who have been targeting local businesses.
The episode begins with a daring robbery at a jewelry store. The two suspects, dressed in ski masks and armed with guns, burst into the store and make off with a large amount of jewelry. Hooker and his partner Romano are called to the scene and begin investigating. They gather CCTV footage and witness descriptions from witnesses, which they hope will lead them to the criminals.
Meanwhile, the robbers strike again, this time targeting a convenience store. During the robbery, they shoot the store clerk and flee the scene in a stolen car. Hooker and Romano learn of the incident and immediately rush to the scene. They find the wounded store clerk and call an ambulance to take him to the hospital. The officers then inspect the stolen car and find a piece of jewelry that was stolen from the previous robbery.
Using this new lead, Hooker and Romano track down the owner of the stolen jewelry. The man tells them that he had given the jewelry to his girlfriend, who had been recently robbed by the same suspects. Hooker and Romano visit the girlfriend and gather more information about the suspects. They learn that one of the robbers is named Frankie and that he used to work for a local car dealership.
The officers head to the dealership and find that Frankie has been fired from his job. They speak to his former boss, who tells them that Frankie has a history of drug abuse and has been known to hang out with a dangerous crowd. Hooker and Romano continue their search for Frankie and eventually find him at a local motel. When they confront him, he denies any involvement in the robberies and claims that he's been clean for several months.
However, Hooker and Romano suspect that Frankie is lying. They search his room and find a large amount of stolen jewelry, as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia. As they question him, Frankie breaks down and confesses to the robberies. He tells them that his partner in crime is a man named Eddie and that they had planned to use the stolen jewelry to fund a drug operation.
With this new information, Hooker and Romano set out to find Eddie. They discover that he is spending time with a group of drug dealers and decide to set up a sting operation. They arrange for a phony drug deal with the criminals, using some of the stolen jewelry as payment. When Eddie arrives at the meeting point, Hooker and Romano arrest him and take him into custody.
In the end, Frankie and Eddie are brought to justice and the stolen jewelry is returned to its rightful owners. Hooker and his fellow officers are commended for their hard work and dedication to solving the case. The episode ends with Hooker reflecting on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of staying vigilant in the fight against crime.
Overall, "Raw Deal" is an exciting and action-packed episode of T.J. Hooker, with plenty of suspense and drama. The show's strong focus on police work and investigation makes it a standout in the crime drama genre, and Shatner's portrayal of the stoic and experienced T.J. Hooker is as compelling as ever.
