In the second episode of Utawarerumono The False Faces season 1, viewers are reunited with Haku, the young man with amnesia who was saved by Kuon in the first episode. This time, Haku and Kuon find themselves in the middle of a battle between two groups - the Rabbit Tribe and the Dog Tribe. Haku and Kuon are quickly caught up in the conflict and must use their wits and skills to come out victorious.
The episode begins with Haku and Kuon travelling through the forest and stumbling upon a scene of chaos. The Rabbit Tribe and the Dog Tribe are deep in battle, and Haku and Kuon are forced to take shelter behind a tree to avoid getting caught up in the crossfire. It soon becomes clear that the Rabbit Tribe is outnumbered and outmatched, and Haku can feel his sense of justice tugging at him to help.
Kuon, on the other hand, is quick to remind Haku that they have no reason to get involved and risk getting hurt. But Haku can't stand by and watch innocent people suffer, so he devises a plan that involves using his intelligence to outsmart the Dog Tribe. He suggests to Kuon that they sneak up on the Dog Tribe's leaders and take them out, causing the rest of the tribe to scatter in fear.
With Kuon's help, Haku is able to successfully carry out his plan, and the Rabbit Tribe emerges victorious. However, their celebration is short-lived when Haku starts to feel a strange sensation in his chest. It quickly becomes apparent that Haku has been injured in the fight and needs immediate medical attention.
Kuon takes Haku back to her village, where he is tended to by her grandmother, who happens to be a skilled healer. Haku's wounds are serious, and there's a chance he won't survive. However, Kuon refuses to give up hope and takes it upon herself to nurse him back to health.
As Haku lies in bed, recovering, he starts to have dreams and flashbacks of his past. He sees himself as a child, playing with his mother and father, and it's clear that there's a lot of pain and suffering in his past that he's been repressing. Kuon notices that Haku is restless and struggling, so she decides to talk to him and try to find out more about his past.
Over the course of their conversation, Haku reveals that he has no memory of his past and has been living in a world of confusion and uncertainty. He doesn't even know his real name, and he's worried that he'll never be able to find out who he truly is. Kuon is sympathetic to his plight and offers to help him uncover the truth.
Their conversation is cut short when news arrives that the Dog Tribe is back and planning a revenge attack on the Rabbit Tribe. Haku is still too weak to fight, but Kuon is determined to protect her tribe and sets out to face their enemy head-on.
The battle that ensues is intense and brutal, with both sides taking heavy casualties. Kuon shows off her impressive fighting skills, but it quickly becomes clear that she's outnumbered and outmatched. Just as things are about to take a turn for the worse, Haku emerges from his sickbed and rushes to Kuon's aid.
With Haku's intelligence and Kuon's strength, the two are able to come up with a plan that ultimately outwits the Dog Tribe and saves the Rabbit Tribe from certain destruction. In the aftermath of the battle, Kuon and Haku share a moment of tenderness and realize how much they mean to each other.
