Young Black Jack season 1 episode 9, titled "The Gruesome Chronicle Part 1," continues the story of Hazama Kuroo as he navigates the world of medicine and surgery in the 1960s. The episode begins with a journalist named Nagata who is investigating a series of mysterious deaths in a small town. Each victim has had their body drained of blood, and rumors of a vampire have begun to circulate.

Nagata meets with Hazama, who has been called to assist with the autopsy of the latest victim. Hazama is skeptical of the vampire theory and suspects that there may be a medical explanation for the deaths. He agrees to help Nagata investigate in order to uncover the truth.

Their investigation leads them to a hospital that specializes in rare blood diseases. There, they meet Dr. Takara, a brilliant hematologist who is researching a rare blood disease that causes the body to produce too much iron. Takara is suspicious of Hazama and Nagata's motives, but agrees to show them around the hospital.

As they explore the hospital, Hazama becomes increasingly convinced that the blood disease is the cause of the deaths. However, Takara is dismissive of his theory and insists that the vampire must be responsible. He shows them a patient with the disease, a young girl named Michiko, and Hazama is struck by how much she resembles his childhood friend, Kuroneko.

Despite Takara's insistence that they leave the hospital, Hazama and Nagata continue their investigation. They discover that Takara has been stealing blood from Michiko in order to conduct his research, leading to a confrontation between the two. Takara reveals that he was once a brilliant researcher, but his career was ruined when he was accused of unethical practices. He admits that he has become obsessed with his research and will do anything to prove that he is right.

The episode ends with Takara revealing his latest experiment to Hazama and Nagata. He has injected himself with Michiko's blood in order to prove that it will cure his own blood disease. However, the experiment goes horribly wrong and Takara begins to transform into a monster.

Overall, "The Gruesome Chronicle Part 1" is a thrilling episode that explores ethical dilemmas in the medical field and draws parallels between Takara's obsession with his research and Hazama's own struggles with his past. The episode sets up an exciting cliffhanger that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the conclusion in the next episode.
