Ep 11. Jailhouse Dick

The third season of 3rd Rock from the Sun starts off in the most unexpected way possible. While Dick and his gang of four aliens are still on Earth, their exploits are getting more ridiculous than ever before. The episode that stands out the most is Jailhouse Dick, the eleventh episode of the season.

The premise of the episode is simple yet ridiculously funny. The audience sees authorities carting off the High Commander of the extraterrestrial beings back to prison. The rest of the quartet is in a state of panic and tries to come up with ways to save the commander from imprisonment. With Harry suggesting the group to "give him a cake with a metal file in it," the crew sets out to break out Dick from prison.

But, why is Dick in prison? The audience might wonder. Well, it all starts with Dick unwillingly becoming a taxi driver during the holiday season. While driving passengers to their respective destinations, the unsuspecting driver ends up in the middle of an armed robbery. Innocent people's lives are at stake, and Dick is desperate to save them from harm. So, he takes it upon himself to stop the armed robber. However, Dick's heroics backfire when he accidentally shoves a customer into the robber, which gives the criminal enough time to escape with the passenger’s purse.

However, Dick is not out of trouble yet. While trying to explain to police officers what happened, a witness catches a glimpse of Dick and identifies him as the robber. As a result, Dick ends up in Jail, with his alien brethren coming up with a plan to get him out.

While trying to get Dick out of jail, the rest of the cast uses their charm and intellect to try and get into the prison. The audience sees Sally putting her acting skills to use by pretending to be an attorney and trying to charm her way into the jail. Meanwhile, Tommy undergoes a transformation of sorts and tries to intimidate his way through the guards.

The highlight of the show, without a doubt, is Officer Don Orville's performance as the prison guard. The no-nonsense approach of Orville throws the alien team into a state of disarray. Orville doesn't believe anything they say, and therefore, they have to come up with a creative plan to get Dick out of jail. At first, the team tries to bribe him, but they realize that Orville has an ulterior motive. The team then tries to charm him, but Orville is not one to be won over by charm alone.

As with all sitcoms, the humor lies in the dialogues and the obvious jokes, and Jailhouse Dick is no different. The audience is taken on a hilarious journey with the extraterrestrial crew, as they try to break their leader out of prison. In the end, fans of the series are sure to be left with stomachs aching from laughter.

To sum it up, 3rd Rock from the Sun season 3 episode 11- Jailhouse Dick is a must-watch for anyone looking for a good laugh. The show combines humor, satire, and drama in a way that makes it difficult to resist. It is certainly an episode not to be missed.
