Mai continues her stay with her second cousin, Riko, and her grandmother, while attending a new school in Tokyo. Riko is excited to have Mai with her, as it means more people to share her love of cooking with. The girls set out to recreate a fluffy and moist dish that their grandmother makes, only to find out that it's not as easy as it looks. They practice and experiment with different methods, even enlisting the help of their classmates, but still can't seem to replicate the perfect dish. As they search for answers, they learn the importance of patience and perseverance, and the beauty of cooking with loved ones. Meanwhile, Mai struggles to adjust to her new school, where she feels like an outsider. She daydreams of her friends from her old school and longs for a sense of belonging.
