In the Liberty's Kids episode named One Life To Lose, Sarah Phillips and James Hiller are on a mission to deliver a package to General Horatio Gates, but they are ambushed by British soldiers along the way. The two kids fight bravely and manage to escape, but Sarah leaves behind a personal item that could reveal their identities as spies.
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, Moses and Henri are attending a debate between John Adams and Samuel Chase, two delegates from Maryland. The debate is about whether or not to sign the Declaration of Independence, which John Adams supports and Samuel Chase opposes. The boys are impressed by John Adams' passionate defense of independence and his steadfast belief in the rights of the American people.
Things take a dramatic turn when Sarah is captured by British soldiers and taken to their camp. She is interrogated by the ruthless Major Andre, who threatens to harm her if she does not reveal the identities of her fellow spies. Sarah refuses to give in, but the situation becomes increasingly dire as Major Andre plans to execute her as an example to other rebels. James and Henri risk their lives to try and rescue her, but their plan is foiled and they are captured as well.
As the three kids await their fate, they are shocked to hear that Samuel Chase has changed his mind and decided to sign the Declaration after all. This news fills them with hope and reminds them of the importance of their mission. In a daring escape attempt, they manage to break free and run back to safety, narrowly avoiding capture by the enemy. The episode ends on a hopeful note as the group reunites and reflects on the sacrifices they must make for their country's freedom.
