Rinne has no recollection of abandoning Matsugo, but they do discover a ghostly version of Mamiya, Sakura's ancestor, who witnessed Matsugo's tragic death. Mamiya tells them that Rinne was not responsible for Matsugo's death, but Matsugo refuses to believe it.

As Rinne and Sakura try to find a way to convince Matsugo to move on, they encounter a strange woman dressed in black. She has an "M" tattooed on her forehead and seems to know Matsugo. The woman admits to having played a role in Matsugo's death and apologizes for it.
