Lucy gets an idea to put on a monster show to raise money for a new children's wing at the hospital. She goes to Mr. Mooney for help in securing the needed monetary donations and he agrees to supply the financing only if Lucy promises not to participate in any of the acts. Naturally, Lucy agrees to this and begins assembling her cast of monsters.

Lucy's first choice is a professional monster actor, but he demands too much money and is unavailable for the show's date. She then recruits friends and acquaintances to portray the other monsters. Mr. Mooney is not pleased with this but agrees to allow Lucy to go ahead with the show, knowing that it could be a financial success.

The night of the show arrives and Lucy and her monsters take the stage. However, the script that Lucy has written is full of errors and the audience is not amused. Mr. Mooney is also unhappy with the show and leaves early. As the night progresses, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

One of the monsters, a gorilla, gets loose backstage and terrorizes the cast and crew. Another monster, a mummy, gets caught in a giant spider web and is unable to free himself. Lucy is also having trouble with her own monster costume, which is too tight and makes it difficult for her to perform her lines.

Despite all the problems, Lucy persists in trying to make the show a success. She even gets her daughter, Chris, to come on stage dressed as an angel to provide a dramatic finale. However, just as Lucy is about to finish her final lines, the theater catches fire.

Everyone is forced to evacuate the building and it seems as though all is lost. However, Lucy refuses to give up and comes up with an idea to make the best of the situation. She decides to turn the fire into a part of the show and has her monsters put out the flames with their monster-sized water guns.

In the end, Lucy's show is a success and the proceeds go towards the new children's wing at the hospital. Mr. Mooney is impressed with the turnout and even compliments Lucy on her creativity in turning the fire into part of the show. The episode ends with Lucy and her monsters taking a well-deserved bow on stage.
