The television series entitled Prince of Tennis is about a guy known as Ryoma Echizen who is a very famous and talented tennis player. The series starts at a time when Ryoma is a student at Seishun Academy. The institution is well known for its famous tennis club and talented tennis players such as Ryoma. Within the team Ryoma starts breaking records of other players and gradually makes his way to the top as the favorite player. With his assistance also the club wins many championships. The team is now faces a very important upcoming competition known as the National Middle School Tennis Championship. The members know their utmost goal is to win the competition, as a result they decide to make new friends so they can learn new game tricks from them. Ryoma also decides to put in more effort and time so as to develop a good strategy for the team. He then realizes how much passion he has for tennis. Ryoma's father is a man known as Nanjiro Echizen. Nanjiro was also a famous tennis player during his youth. He is very passionate about the sport and many people tell him his son Ryoma inherited that from him. Even at an age when he has stopped playing tennis, Nainjiro still advises young players about the sport including his son. Most often he tells them they still have a lot to do to become experts. Tekuza is the head of the tennis club at Seigaku Academy who was once a national tennis player before going to high school. He is a very organized young man, who always takes responsibility for the team and does everything to see it succeed even at the expense of his studies. Shuichiro is Tekuza's assistant and together with Kikumaru they make up a group known as the Golden pair due to their talents. They are always together and work hard to see that the team succeeds at all times. The series was written by Takeshi Konomi and directed by Takayuki Hamana. The complete series comprises of 42 volumes and 178 episodes.

Tezuka and Fuji's match intensifies as they each gradually begin to reveal their best moves (Tezuka's Zero-Shiki Drop/Tezuka Zone and Fuji's Triple Counters). Tezuka slowly begins to surpass Fuji. As he begins to struggle, Fuji reminisces about their first year match (which included the promise of a rematch) and their developing friendship. He then realizes that he is afraid of finding out the results of both of them playing to their full potential and that this is quite possibly the last match they will ever have against each other, and he concludes that if he doesn't play his hardest, he will regret it. His hits suddenly get sharper, and Tezuka comments that the true Fuji has awakened.
