Rito and Lala are on their way to school when they encounter a mysterious woman who introduces herself as the queen of the planet Deviluke. The queen, named Sephie, challenges Lala to a game of chess, with the outcome deciding whether or not Lala is worthy of succeeding the throne of Deviluke. Lala, who has never played chess before, agrees to the challenge and Rito and the rest of the gang tag along to watch the match.

Throughout the game, it becomes clear that Sephie is not just interested in Lala's chess skills, but also in her relationship with Rito. Sephie believes that Lala's love for Rito could be a threat to the royal family, and she tries to convince Lala to give up her feelings for Rito. Lala refuses, insisting that she loves Rito and that he is the only one for her.

As the game continues, Sephie reveals that she has her own ulterior motives for challenging Lala. The queen is in fact searching for Lala's brother, who is in hiding on Earth. The queen believes that Rito may have some information on the boy's whereabouts, and she tries to use Lala's love for Rito as leverage to get him to talk. Rito, however, has no idea where Lala's brother is and refuses to give up any information.

The chess match reaches its climax, with Lala and Sephie both playing their best moves. In the end, Lala pulls off an unexpected victory, impressing Sephie and proving that she is indeed worthy of taking over the throne of Deviluke. Sephie grudgingly accepts defeat and leaves, but not before warning Lala that her relationship with Rito will eventually bring about the downfall of the royal family.

After the match, Rito and Lala discuss Sephie's warning and the possibility of Lala becoming queen. Lala admits that she is not sure if she is ready for the responsibility that comes with ruling a planet, but she also knows that she wants to be with Rito no matter what. Rito tells Lala that he will support her no matter what decision she makes, and the two share a tender moment.

Meanwhile, other characters in the show deal with their own romantic problems. Mikan, Rito's sister, has a crush on her classmate and tries to get closer to him. Haruna, another girl who has feelings for Rito, struggles to confess her love to him. And Risa and Mio, two of Lala's friends, continue to pursue their own romantic interests in their own quirky ways.

Overall, "The Queen's Challenge" is a fun and engaging episode of To Love Ru that explores the complex relationships between the show's colorful cast of characters. With its mix of romance, comedy, and sci-fi elements, the episode offers something for everyone and sets the stage for even more drama and excitement in future episodes.
