Unwrapped is a food-focused TV series that takes viewers on a behind-the-scenes look at various food factories and processing plants across the country. The show aims to uncover the secrets behind some of America's favorite snacks and treats, as well as showcase innovative new products.

In season 20 episode 3, titled "Toasted," host Marc Summers explores the world of toasted food. From bread to granola and even cocktails, this episode is all about the art of toasting and the delicious treats that come out of it.

The episode starts with a trip to the oldest commercial bakery in San Francisco, Boudin Bakery. Founded in 1849, Boudin is famous for their sourdough bread, which they toast to perfection. With the help of head baker Fernando Padilla, Marc learns the secrets of sourdough bread making and sees firsthand how they achieve that perfect toasty crust.

Next up is granola. Marc visits Kind Snacks, a company that has revolutionized the granola industry with its unique flavor combinations and commitment to healthy snacking. At Kind's commercial kitchen, Marc meets with founder and CEO Daniel Lubetzky to learn how they develop their granola flavors and the importance of properly toasting the oats for a crunchy texture.

Moving onto something a little more unusual, the episode takes us to Lost Spirits Distillery, a Los Angeles-based rum and whiskey maker. Marc meets with distillery co-founder Bryan Davis, who shows him their unique process of toasting barrels with computer-controlled flames to give their spirits a distinct smoky flavor.

Finally, the episode ends with something sweet: a visit to a family-owned bakery in New Jersey called the Butterflake Bakery. Marc meets with owner Marlene Extavour, who shows him how they make their famous cinnamon buns. The secret, of course, is the toasting - both for the cinnamon filling and the toasty crust on the outside.

Throughout the episode, Marc also shares fun facts and interesting trivia about toasting, such as the history of the toaster and the science behind how toasting changes the flavor of bread. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for some fun and informative entertainment, "Toasted" is a must-watch episode of Unwrapped.
