In Mad About You season 2 episode 21 "Disorientation," viewers are taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as Paul and Jamie navigate the ups and downs of parenthood and their own relationship.

The episode starts with the Buchmans attending an orientation for baby Mabel's daycare. While there, they meet other parents and try to navigate the many rules and regulations of dropping off and picking up their child. Paul, the nervous wreck that he is, becomes obsessed with following the rules to the letter and ends up causing a commotion.

Back at home, Jamie tries to work on her novel while dealing with the stresses of being a new mom. She finds herself constantly interrupted by Mabel's cries and Paul's overbearing behavior. The two argue about what's best for their daughter and their partnership, leading to some tense moments between them.

As the night wears on, Paul becomes increasingly frustrated with his own shortcomings as a father and husband. He decides to take matters into his own hands and enlists the help of his therapist, Mark, to try and figure out what's really bothering him.

Meanwhile, Jamie gets a visit from her friend Fran, who has just broken up with her long-term partner and is feeling lost and alone. Jamie tries to offer comfort and advice, but ends up feeling guilty for her own struggles with Paul.

The episode takes a turn when Paul starts to experience some disorientation and confusion, leading him to fear that he's suffering from a serious medical condition. He becomes convinced that he's dying and starts to act erratically, causing Jamie even more stress and anxiety.

Amidst all of this chaos, the couple's therapist suggests a radical solution to their problems: they should take a break from each other. Initially resistant to the idea, Paul and Jamie eventually come around and decide to spend a few days apart to reevaluate their relationship and their roles as parents.

The episode ends with both Paul and Jamie feeling a sense of hope for their future together. While they're still experiencing some bumps in the road, they're committed to working through their issues and being the best parents they can be for little Mabel.

Overall, "Disorientation" is a poignant and emotional episode that showcases the highs and lows of marriage and parenthood. With its relatable characters, witty writing, and heartfelt moments, it's easy to see why Mad About You was such a beloved show during its run.
