In Bizarre Foods season 18 episode 5, host Andrew Zimmern heads to Columbus, Ohio, to discover the culinary delights of the city. He starts his journey at the North Market, a historic indoor market that has been operating for over 140 years. Here, he samples Portuguese chorizo, Vietnamese vermicelli noodles, and a variety of other international foods.
Next, Zimmern visits Katalina's, a family-owned restaurant that serves a unique twist on breakfast classics. He tries their famous pancake balls stuffed with Nutella and sweet cream cheese, as well as their Chorizo Breakfast Tacos.
Zimmern also explores the German Village neighborhood, which is home to a number of traditional German restaurants. He visits Schmidt's Sausage Haus, a Columbus institution since 1886, where he samples their famous Bahama Mama sausage and their homemade sauerkraut.
In addition to traditional foods, Zimmern also discovers the city's vibrant food truck scene. He visits the Ajumama truck, which serves Korean-inspired comfort food such as bibimbap and kimchi fried rice.
Finally, Zimmern ends his journey at the Refectory Restaurant and Wine Shop, a fine dining establishment known for its European-inspired cuisine. He tries their wild boar pâté, beef Wellington, and a variety of other gourmet dishes.
Throughout the episode, Zimmern also learns about the history and culture of Columbus, meeting with local chefs and food experts to gain a deeper understanding of the city's culinary scene.
