In the episode Conflict in the South from the first season of Liberty's Kids, viewers are transported to the state of Georgia in the year 1779. The episode begins with Sarah Phillips, one of the show's main characters, expressing her frustration with the fact that the Continental Army has yet to achieve a victory against the British army. She states that General George Washington, who is leading the Continental Army, initially had high hopes that the British would eventually surrender, but as time goes on, it seems less likely that this will happen.

Meanwhile, James Hiller, another of the series' protagonists, is excited to be heading South with his friend and fellow journalist, Henri LeFebvre. As they arrive in Savannah, Georgia, they witness the British army's brutal tactics as they take control of the city. Soldiers storm into homes, confiscate goods, and threaten the people who live there. James and Henri are shocked by the level of violence they witness and begin to see just how brutal the war can be.

While in Savannah, the two journalists meet a man named Nathanael Greene, one of General Washington's trusted military advisers. Greene is clearly frustrated with the situation in the South and explains to James and Henri that the British army is using a tactic called "scorched earth," which involves burning and destroying everything in their path. This strategy makes it difficult for the Continental Army to move troops and resources down South, as the British are constantly destroying everything in their path.

As they travel through Georgia, James and Henri witness firsthand the devastation that the war has brought to the people of the state. They see homes and farms destroyed, families displaced, and people living in poverty. The journalists begin to understand just how much the war is impacting the lives of everyday Americans.

Later in the episode, James and Henri witness a skirmish between the British and Continental armies. The Americans are outnumbered, but they have one major advantage: they know the terrain. Using this knowledge, General Greene and his troops are able to outmaneuver the British and get the upper hand in the battle. James and Henri are thrilled to see the Continental Army finally achieve a victory and feel hopeful that things may be turning around.

Overall, Conflict in the South is a powerful and poignant episode that highlights the brutality and devastation of the Revolutionary War. It also shows the resilience and bravery of the Continental Army and the people fighting for their independence. Through the eyes of James and Henri, viewers get a glimpse into the human toll of the war and the struggles faced by those fighting for freedom. This is a must-watch episode for anyone interested in American history or the Revolutionary War.
