Akikan is an anime series that aired in 2009, and follows the comedic but action-packed story of Kakeru Daichi, a high school student, who unwittingly gets involved in a war between anthropomorphic beverage cans called "akikan." The show features a talented cast of voice actors, including Aiko ?kubo as Yurika Kochikaze, Aki Toyosaki as Najimi Tenk?ji, Aoi Y?ki as Budoko, Jun Fukuyama as Kakeru Daichi, Mamiko Noto as Yell, Megumi Toyoguchi as Airin Kizaki, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Gor? Amaji, Ryotaro Okiayu as Hidehiko Otoyo, and Sayaka Narita as Melon.

The story begins when Kakeru Daichi buys a can of melon soda, only to discover that it transforms into a cute girl. This girl, who Kakeru names Melon, is an "akikan" - an empty can that is magically infused with human form and sentience. Melon is the first of many akikan to appear in Kakeru's life, each representing a different type of beverage, such as soda, juice, coffee, and beer.

As it turns out, the akikan themselves are part of a larger conflict between two factions - the "steel" akikan, who represent aluminum cans, and the "air" akikan, who represent steel cans. Each faction seeks to prove the superiority of their type of can, and the ultimate goal is to have their type of can declared the "chosen one."

Kakeru finds himself caught up in this conflict, as both factions seek to recruit him to their side. He initially refuses, but is soon drawn in by his desire to protect his friends and loved ones. Along the way, he gains a group of allies, including Yurika Kochikaze, a genius scientist who studies akikan and develops specialized equipment to aid Kakeru; Najimi Tenk?ji, a bubbly girl who embodies the spirit of soda; and Budoko, a gothic lolita girl who represents a can of tomato juice.

Together, Kakeru and his allies face off against numerous enemies, each with their own unique abilities and quirks. They also encounter a number of other akikan, some friendly and some hostile, as well as human conspirators who seek to use the akikan for their own purposes.

Throughout the course of the series, audiences are treated to a mix of slapstick comedy, intense action scenes, and dramatic character development. The show explores themes of loyalty, friendship, and the power of choice, as Kakeru and his friends battle against overwhelming odds to protect the world they know and to forge a brighter future for all akikan.

Overall, Akikan is a highly entertaining and engaging anime series that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With a talented voice cast, memorable characters, and a compelling storyline, it is well worth watching for anyone who loves action, comedy, and a good story.
