Watch Southie Rules
- 1 Season
The television series Southie Rules is a reality documentary that chronicles the daily lives of a multi-generational family native to South Boston. The Niedzwiecki family are steadfast in their quest to remain the last townies standing in an area of Boston being transformed by new development and unwelcome yuppie lifestyle. All taking up space on a different floor of a triple decker (three-story home), this family of characters is led by Camille, the family matriarch and her ex-husband Walter. Other occupants include the family's oldest son Jon who runs the family's tattoo shop and youngest son Matt along with his girlfriend Jenn and their baby. Free-loading family friend Devin regularly sleeps on the family couch while the first floor is inhabited by outspoken daughter Leah, her husband Jarrod and their toddler. The opening scenario features Matt selling meatballs to the neighbors in order to pay the family's cable bill. Other plotlines highlight frustration over Matt's work ethic with the family business, a half-hearted effort by Leah to break in to an upscale yuppie Mother's group for the sake of her daughter's future, as well Camille insisting that Jenn take the time-tested Southie pregnancy test. Called a hybrid of a sitcom and reality show, Southie Rules began as an attempt to highlight South Boston's tension between the natives and the newcomers. What unfolds is a loyal and loving family with a big personality and rich traditions. The Niedzwiecki's are determined to preserve their Southie legacy, yet don't take themselves too seriously. Southie Rules airs on A&E in a thirty-minute time slot. The show is produced by Powderhouse Productions and MagillaEntertainment.
