This music based TV production company has grown from being an entertainment talent agency into one of the largest TV and film production companies in the World. Perhaps best known for the Idol franchise, which has been sold around the World by founder and former CEO Simon Fuller, 19 Entertainment is well known for a series of reality based shows and a small number of film productions. Founded in 1985 by Fuller, 19 Entertainment came into its own in the 21st century when a series of music based comedy shows were produced, such as Viva S Club and Hollywood 7, both series starred the members of the 19 Entertainment managed band S Club 7.
The company had already found success in the UK and around the World with early versions of the Idol franchise and its various spin offs, such as Popstars in the UK. American Idol is perhaps the best known production from 19 Entertainment and has been produced and broadcast from 2001 through 20th Century Fox. The company also looked into becoming a force in the comedy production business when Little Britain USA was produced in 2008 starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams. In 1997, 19 Entertainment entered the film production industry by producing the Spice World movie, starring the Spice Girls.
