Athans Communications is a specialist production company, which produces a wide range of documentaries, sports and lifestyle programs that are created for broadcast and for commercial reasons. Athans is named after its Canadian founder George S. Athans Jr., who was a world class water skiing professional before turning to TV production and commentary. The company follows the passions of George S. Athans Jr. and produces a variety of programs, including the Caribbean Workout series that the company has produced since 1993 and has been watched by more than 100 million people. One of the best loved and critically well received TV specials produced by Athans Communications is Performance: The Science and Technology of F1 Car Racing. This show was written, produced and directed in house and featured the birth and evolution of a Formula 1 racing car as it moved from the design stage to the finished racing vehicle. The Legends Celebrity Challenge continued the motor racing theme for the company as it featured a series of races and interviews with motor sports specialists and celebrities at the Le Circuit Mont Tremblant track. Lifestyle programming is another major area Athans Communications deals in, with shows produced in Canada including those featuring the nations wine industry and the hunting and fishing seasons within Canada.
