Prisoners are an entertaining demographic. They're even more entertaining when they try to escape from prison. For some of us it’s like watching a car crash, we can’t resist watching every detail. For others, they actually root for the criminals to make an effortless getaway. Whatever the reason, Breakout is a brand new television show that documents prisoners and the institutions they try and break out of.
Breakout is also an educational show. Your average person doesn’t understand the type of brainpower it takes to break out of a prison. You get the chance to live in the middle of famous escapes and hear from the people who pulled them off. Watching the methods used by these criminals is the most impressive aspect of the show. For example, in one case a group of violent offenders created an opening in the prison ceiling for their escape, in the meantime using toothpaste to cover up the evidence. In watching this show we learn that if you lock up men they'll use any tool to experience freedom again.
However, viewers shouldn’t get too attached to the offenders in the show. This is because while the show does document how they escape, it also documents what leads to their eventual capture. In watching Breakout you’ll hear from both sides of the law, the prison guards and police department, and the criminals who break out of prison through shear planning and intellect. You’ll also get a sense of the danger involved with a prison break.
