Discovery Health Channel was taken off the air on December 10th, 2010, its channel being taken by the Oprah Winfrey Network. The shows from Discovery Health began to show on FitTV. On January 17, 2011, FitTV and the shows of Discovery Health merged to become Discovery FitTv and Health. This new station took over the channel of FitTV on February 1st, 2011. Finally, on January 1st, 2015, it was renamed Discovery Life.
Discovery Life focuses on the human body both physical and mental. Many of the shows focus on the body and its possible illnesses and malformations. A couple of the shows tell about what can go wrong with the body by showing the world of the ER, NY ER and Untold Stories of the ER. Connected to this theme is the show Outrageous Births: Tales From The Crib, which is about the strange, true events of childbirth. Another popular show is Body Bizarre, which is about strange ways the body can be malformed.
Shows connected to the mind are also popular. A hit show is Hoarding: Behind Closed Doors, a program about the mental illness of hoarding. Hoarding is where a person can not stop themselves from collecting things, even trash. This show investigates the mysteries of this illness and gives the victims the chance to tell their stories.
Discovery Life gives viewers a chance to learn about the different ways of the body and mind, normal and abnormal. These shows investigate aspects of life which are unique, scary, or strange so viewers have a chance to learn about the mysteries of the body and mind.
