Discovery World is a European television channel that is a part of Discovery Networks Western Europe, a branch of Discovery Networks International. The channel features programs dealing with crime, paranormal events and culture. The company was launched in 1998, and was originally called Discovery Civilization. At its launch, the channel was only available in the UK, and only history related programs were featured. Over the course of time the channel became more widely available in other countries across Europe. Over time the channel expanded its horizons to include investigative material, mysteries and documentaries, as well as travel content and real life stories. With these changes came the change of the channel's name to Discovery World in 2008.
While most of the shows on the channel are filmed in English, many of them also have dubbed versions available in multiple languages. Users can find material dubbed in Bulgarian, Romanian, Czech, Italian, Polish, Russian, Turkish and Hungarian. The company’s logo has been changed a few times over the years. The current logo was designed in 2008 and features a picture of the earth next to the words Discovery World, all on a white background. The company's headquarters are located in London, United Kingdom.
