Exploration Films is a media channel that focuses on digital content distribution throughout the world. The company started when filmmaker James Carlos set out to create a film that included horror elements and dark themes as part of a class project. Although the original film he made did not receive funding, he chose to pay his actors a fair wage and compensate them for their time.
This series of events led the actors to spread the word about his production company and soon many directors and actors wanted to be a part of the legendary company. Exploration Films has now expanded to include television, film, music, and written projects. Its content is available on the official website for downloading or streaming live, which costs a small fee. In 2014, the company reached a deal with Comcast to release a new series of shows geared toward an intellectual audience.
Current titles include: "What's Eating Professor Gild?" and "Your Mother Wouldn't Approve." For example, "What's Eating Professor Gild?" is a show that features a young professor's assistant who is trying to figure out why his mentor is stuck in his own mind. Through a series of events, the audience is shown the secrets behind the academic walls of the professor's office. The young protagonist must fight against elite institutions to uncover the truth and help the professor before it is too late.
