Icarus Films is a digital media company based in the United States of America. It provides online content such as television shows and music videos. It began in 2003 when Harold Smith began to realize that there was a market opportunity to take advantage of. Young people wanted more content that was fresh and exciting, and the traditional producers were not providing the right kinds of shows for this demographic. After raising money, the company was able to begin producing original shows that become incredibly popular in a short time.
Now, the company has expanded to include a variety of content and caters to international markets outside of the U.S. Example of current titles include Extreme X, Cars Show, and My Hand is Off. Extreme X is catered to a young demographic that likes extreme sports. The show features various professional athletes and interviews them to provide the viewers with an example of what their lives are like.
Cars Show features fast cars. The driver for the show, Clinton Jones, is an expert in automobiles and explains to the viewer how the cars work. The viewer is then treated with an inside look of the car under the hood with digital graphics accompanying the show to provide a more detailed description. The show has received numerous awards and is slated to continue into 2016 with more funding for production elements. In 2014, the company announced that it would be producing a new show that would be unveiled in the new season.
