The primary and dominant newspaper in the Central Florida region is the Orlando Sentinel. It was founded in 1876 has therefore had a very long track history which they use to leverage themselves as the continued dominate newspaper in the region. It has often been believed that this newspaper has thought to be historically conservative, but has endorsed a Democratic candidate for President in 2 of the last 3 Presidential elections.

The Orlando Sentinel keeps its prices low so as to be accessible to the common person. It is only $1.50 for the daily newspaper Monday through Friday and $2 per paper on the weekends and on Thanksgiving Day.

Aside from covering the local news that is going on in Central Florida, the newspaper also covers national sports stories and national political stories as well. There are opinion pieces put in by contributors and even the readers on occasion. It has proven to be a successful paper as there are some 151,000 people who subscribe to the paper on a daily basis, and there are greater than a quarter million subscribers who get the Sunday version of the paper.

On three occasions in the history of the newspaper there have been articles so good that they were awarded Pulitzer Prizes. These have been huge honors, and they are a great reason for people to take a look at the things that this newspaper has to say about the various stories going on nationally and locally. The Orlando Sentinel just continues to grow.
