Watch TV Shows on Pierrot Co., Ltd.

Despite the French origins of its name, the Pierrot Company is actually a Japanese animation studio. The company's logo is a clown, paying tribute to the famous French one that was the inspiration for the company's name. Founded by veterans of studios Matasunuko Production and Mushi Production, the company has produced animation titles such as Saiyuki and Yu Yu Haishuko, both of which won major international animation awards. The company also develops, produces, and licenses graphic designs for other businesses.

The studio has produced a number of animated series for Japanese television, the greatest number of which aired in the 1980s. Titles include The Mysterious Cities Of Gold, Mrs. Pepper Pot, Bismark, Creamy Mami, The Magic Angel, Dragon Quest, The Burning Wild Man, and The Magical Hat. Tokyo Ghoul and Beezelbub were two other popular titles for the studio. Pierrot continues to produce animated television series, but its current output is not equaling production levels of the 1980s and 1990s.

The Pierrot Company has produced a number of feature length movies as well. Theatrical titles include Here Is Greenwood, Dallos, Lily C.A.T., Firetripper, Here Is The Clouds, Here Is The Wind, Eternal Filena, Creamy Magi, The Magic Angel: The Long Goodbye, a quartet of Bleach movies, and the Millennium Dragon, among many other titles. Their biggest international hit featured a big international star, Sonic The Hedgehog.

The company's studio is located in a suburb of Tokyo and does not offer public tours. A requirement of prospective employees in addition to obvious art skills, is that they be fluent in Japanese.
